The Institute is focused on applied sciences and technological development relevant to the agricultural research discipline of plant protection (phytopathology, entomology, agricultural zoology, weed research, chemical plant protection and toxicology, integrated plant protection and stored products protection). It is also authorized to conduct activities relevant to registration, trade, application and supervision of plant protection products, and to monitor plant health (by diagnosing plant diseases and conducting phytosanitary certification) and food safety. The Institute uses a single building of 1378 m2 and 6 ha of surrounding fields that are the property of the Republic of Serbia. The Institute currently has 47 full-time employees, and its research team includes 29 PhD holders and 3 PhD students ranked as: principal research fellows (5), senior research associates (8), research associates (16), research assistants (2), and a trainee.
